Needing some help, possible turbo issues!

Hi, I have an 07 Navara D40 and I assume I have an issue with the turbo. I have noticed that it has become quite sluggish to take off from idle. It feels like the turbo isn't kicking in until around 2800-3000rpm or after 60km/h from 0. Additionally, it is having trouble accelerating when going uphill and it has been losing speed when going uphill, driving over 80km/h. I know this issue could be as little as a leak in the vacuum pipes. on the other hand, it could be the boost solenoid, the turbo itself, or another issue altogether. I have also found this hose (attached) just sitting loose and have no idea what it may be. I'd say it isn't something that shouldn't be just sitting there.

NOTE: The car has had the EGR and DPF deleted.

P.S. The car is booked in to be looked at on November 1st. Also, I have very limited knowledge of cars so any help will be appreciated!

It looks like a vac hose that's come off somewhere.

Vac control is basically this:

Vacuum pump on RHS of motor to brake booster and boost control solenoid (this latter pipe comes across the top of the engine and forward to the BCS which is below your hand in the first pic).

BCS opens and closes rapidly to control vacuum level provided to top of turbocharger actuator (it's only just visible in the background of the second pic, mounted to the top of the valley between the turbo halves).

There's also a connection to the air intake pipe just above your first knuckle in the second photo.

In amongst all that in that area (within reach of the broken hose), there must be a broken connector or another piece of hose that the one you're holding in the pics connects to.

I looked to see if I could find a connection point or hose that the loose hose could connect to. As it is a purposely shaped hose I tried to see where it might fit best, bending around the other surrounding parts however I wasn't able to find anything. It definitely looks like a Vac hose and not just a breather. it might just be best to have someone who knows more than I do to have a proper look.

I know it isn't easy to say, but in your opinion do you believe it could just be the Vac hose that is causing the lack of uphill power and slow acceleration from 0km/h?
 
For sure.

I presume you've checked the BCS and confirmed there are 3 vac lines connected to it? If not, you've found your culpit. If yes, follow each of those and make sure they are all connected where they're meant to be.

Assuming you are looking down from the passenger side of your engine bay (I typically unplug the MAF sensor for better access), the line closest to you goes up, across the top of the engine (at the back) then down to your vac pump. The middle one goes to your turbo and plugs into the top of the actuator. The third one furthest from you is the bleed line to the air intake. We can see from your second photo this one is connected (but still follow it along anyway in case someone put a join in there for some reason).

Once you find out where this line has come from, work out why it parted company in the first place. If the vac line is old / dry / cracked and not creating a good seal, just replace it. In fact do all of them while you are it. New silicon vacuum line is cheap and is an easy fix.

Absolutely. Something to try: unplug the turbocharger's vac hose (on the top of the round gold actuator that sits on the turbo) and take the car for a drive. Without the turbocharger, the D40 is quite gutless.

The idea that it's a diff breather didn't occur to me (mostly because mine doesn't have one).
