Have you had a good shake down run yet?? Drive over some shocking rough roads and see what comes loose.

We did a trip out to Gordon's country about 2 months ago. That's when I found out that my main battery couldn't hold charge and the fridge battery couldn't keep the fridge running for any longer the 8hrs with out a charge, thus 2 new batteries have been fitted.

Apart from that I've marked every bolt and nut with a paint pen so if it has moved ill know without getting the tools out.

navara gvm is 2.9t isn't it? if something happens make sure you dump everything before insurance get to find out lol

I'm not sure but could be.... Yer luck my brothers d22 will have room for some of the stuff.

Well Thats about it Everything apart from LED bar and Intercooler is done prior to leaving to Cape York. Wish i could have ordered the LED bar but time just wasnt on my side. Went for a play in the local pig pen today and the front locker makes a huge difference but also makes me nervious so itll be a last resort to use.

All up I weigh 2.98T with a empty tank and 50ltrs of water on board so i think ill be around 3.2T on the way up fully loaded.

You have a fantastic setup, it really looks nice and well prepared for everything.

I have a similar setup and unfortunately I start to thing that the Navara it might not be the right vehicle for this kind of setups, they are too heavy.

Enjoy your trip, as I said you have built a car well prepared for anything.

Cheers

Made some new side wings for the rear drawers and mounted my switches and cigarette socket with resetable fuses underneath, Voltmeter and a Ctek Battery monitor as well. Also fitted a tank gauge on the opposite side.

Changed out the Strut top rubbers to hope that it fixed a squeak!! but it didnt :tazzy:

Bull bars coming off next to see if its in there.:shotgun:

Hey mate I had the same squeak.. It's either the bonnet latch or the body mount in the front I just sprayed everything with wd40 and now no more noise lol

Cheers mate, I agree next year ill be getting SAS'd then ill be able to keep up with the big boys and wont have to worry about breakages.... as much, thats the plan anyway.

Cheers mate, on the bonnet the latch is what causes the squeak, wrap on elecy tape around it and itll be gone. I was hearing and thinking the exact same but found out it was that.

I don't want to be a wet blanket, but honestly, with the front & rear locked you can keep up with the big boys already. Take a look at a stock 70 series Cruiser, they don't have a lot of front end flex, they're as stiff as an old board.

You could put one of the 5" lift kits on, that'll raise your ramp over up a bit, fit 285's and you're running around about as high as a Cruiser/Patrol.

Honestly, for the amount of time you're going to use the added flex of a solid front axle, you have to ask if it's really worth it.

We have to get away from this feeling that these IFS vehicles aren't up to the tough stuff, they are, I've proved it to myself just recently.

Touring's about fuel economy in my book and high vehicles with big tyres get the worst economy.

But if I won tattslotto, I'be be sas'ing my Nav, that's one reason I got it, coz it's different and a sas'd Nav would be very different.

I agree with your whole statement except would like to add that if you were to SAS it would allow to run 33" or 285's but bring the diff ratio back to standard so extra fuel wouldn't be as bad or strenuous on the drive line not to mention it would also allow cheaper parts for breakages.

Saying that it will cost twice the amount of a 5" lift plus the engineering expense aswell as insurance nightmare. 2" and 265 will do me for a little while i think :-D
