Hi, first time post, long time reader. I brought a navara d22 2010 (because

the price was right). Stupid me didnt even test drive one and yet to pick it

up, but from what i hear it might lack some power/torque. i will be towing a

1200kg boat around home with some large hills to contend with which my

04 rodeo petrol is strugling with. Thinking of a diesel chip, snorkel and a egr

block off. Is this a step in the right direction and is there any way of

damaging my engine. Thanks looking foward to ur feedback.

Ptretty much what you said on the mods.

The vehicle will handle 1200kg pretty easy standard anyway.

Welcome and enjoy the site.

An exhaust would be my first option and set you back roughly $1200 for a full 2/3" mild steel version. Next I would definitely chip it, there are a number of different chips available for the 2.5 Nav and a search of this forum will show you the most popular ones and give prices and power figures. I have these mods for my 3lt Nav and towing is easy with my camper trailer and boat! These simple mods will not damage your engine and give you more power and torque, you may have to check your warranty and insurance companies first.

Thanks guys for ur feed back. How much more proformance will i be likely to

get out of a larger exhaust? i hear that standard d22 gets 68 kw at the

wheels and chiped they get 110. R there anyone who has acheived this

and with what chip?

Hi Scouller
I had the same issues with power when towing my 1800kg caravan .I did the Egr blanking, fitted a Chip it power chip and 20 psi boost controller and the vehicle has totally been transformed . Now i get up hills in 5th gear check out this videoof a D22 on a dyno with the mods fitted

Does anyone know what is standard boost on a d22 2.5 and is it the same as a d40?

I think EGR mod, exhaust, snorkel then chip. I would do them in that order.

I have all but the chip and its much better, not keen on chipping it until a bit later.

Has anyone chipped d22 2.5 manual 09-10 with a standard exhaust. is there a noticeable difference and what chip was it?
