I love my 3L Patrol. Only complaints I've seen on the Patrol forum is a little excessive fuel usage on the Auto's. I get 14lph, which I think is OK with roof rack and 33"s and Chipit. The ZD30's are virtually bullet proof now, anyone who say's otherwise is badly misinformed.

I'm no expert on such matters but I still wouldn't go down the path of a gas V8 in preference to either a 100 series or a Trol.

As for good towing and relatively decent offroad with comfort I know many other Nissan guys may not agree but the Playdo we use around the farm often tows +3 tonnes in the cattle trailer and still goes around all the farms in mountain goat country rain hail or shine. And there is no doubt about the comfort.

Or a Discovery, damn they are nice to drive, easily my pick if I was doing more towing than offroading.
