High pitched whine sound D22

Hi Guys, i have a Nissan D22 Navara and over the past couple of months have been experiencing a high pitch whining sound only when accelerating in first, second and third gear. There is no sound whilst accelerating in neutral. The sound has recently turned from a whine to more of a high pitched grinding sound. Wondering what this could possibly be.
