All cars have issues. Even a "good brand" can have issues and not even necessarily the fault of the manufacturer - look at the ruckus created by Takada airbags. Most of us would think "why the big deal", but if your partner copped one in the face and died from it, it does become a big deal.
The Navara is not a car without faults, but the Renault-designed power plant is a good workhorse.
It's heartening to know that other manufacturers are starting to look at Nissan's legacy and basing their vehicles on them. I've been told that the Mitsubishi Outlander, for instance, is built around the Nissan X-Trail underpinnings.
