Greetings all,

I am about to join your ranks, I ordered a new model D40 STX yesterday and will pick it up early next week. I was very close to getting a Triton, but the driving position was just not what I was looking for. I sat in the Navara and thought, "this is where I belong".

I am trading in a Volvo XC70 diesel. I love this car, but the back seat is just not big enough to accommodate my ever growing children. I am looking forward to getting back into fair dinkum 4WDing, and getting away camping.

So far, I have ordered window tinting, roof racks and Coopers ST tyres. The immediate to do list is snorkel, bullbar and winch, under car guards, 3+ inch lift and suspension upgrade, radio, long range tank, canopy and drawers. This may take me a while, but I am in no hurry. I am really excited and looking forward to getting down and dirty.

Cheers
Brian

Thanks for the welcome. I am glad I stumbled upon this site, always great to have access to insider knowledge.

I have been reading here and elsewhere about the front diff: what is the issue? Eventually, I would like to add a rear diff lock, and possibly a front one as well: is this possible? I have a Terrain Tamer compressor, which is pretty large, and wonder if this will be mountable under the bonnet, but space may be an issue.

The 5in lift on the Snake Racing site looks pretty impressive. I am waiting for some costings from ARB on some improvements. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.

front lokkas have been reported that the cv go byebye and only rear lokkas available...if u have other things u want to do to the d40 but $$ is low...leave the rear lokka till last as iv heard the the rear diff lsd (m226) for the d40 are one of the best out there.

if ur keen to go offroading a lot..then would prob need the 5" lift as the d40 shitty chassis rail is way low..
