In the hope in trying to end some arguments of which oils to use,
as i reckon the argument will go on for eons,
here is the line up of NISSAN BRANDED" genuine nissan oils" one can purchase from the Nissan spare parts counter near you.
Use one these oils for your Nissan and then there is NO arguing!

3/ VOYAGER DIESEL.............15W-40...CF-4 ............. part No...CF00515W40PK

I got my navara serviced in adelaide while I was there and they used castrol oil too, and too remind me I have a castrol sticker on the window telling me when my next service is

like the man said castrol probibly sell nissan the oil in nice nissan branded containers,if you use it and pay the premium from nissan at least they cant blame poor quality oil for any failure!

i think whats being said is if you use one of the listed nissan brand oils there wont be any arguements fron nissan about warrenty things concerning breakdowns that could be blamed on type of oil

pretty sure nissan cant argue if the viscosities oil you use is within range. if its gets xtreme with the high courts lol. Note: dont be a tightarse and buy a cheapy...stick with known brands. Steve from Townsville nissan told me penrite 5w40 semi syn is the best in his opinion "but i didnt hear that from him" its $90/10L it hurts my wallet but worth it i reckon.

Viscosity is only but one of many requirements needed in an oil to satisfy the Nissan specifications.
Yes the semi- syn is usually better than mineral, but not better than full syn.

I spoke to the Nissan Service bloke a few months ago and he told me it was a Castrol Magnatec variant.
