Honestly it's only about an inch long. But that pipe is like to air is hitting a wall...
There is about 1.5 inches of space for the air to all get through.

Would definitely help I'd say. And It wouldn't compromise strength it's ridiculously thick.
I'll try get some shots tomorrow during the day to show what I mean by its like a wall.. You can kinda get the idea from the side on photo. Look how shallow the mouth is. The nav definely feels more powerful now. Still may order one of those chip express chips though.

i'd still like to know what the turbo side looks like inside past the flange where the dump mates.
Has that got a separator casting as well??

Yes. For the waste gate.but that changes nothing. By making a larger area for the air to actually escape to you are increasing the flow.

If the stockdump is "so" restrictive, then how restrictive is the bloody turbo!

Thats 4 cyl's of ex gas trying to get outa that pissy exh turbine runner.

you may be increasing the flow on one side, but theres still a huge restrictive passage between the ex manifold and the dump....see above.

Yes you are right. The rear housing is friggen tiny!!! I'll post a pic in a minute

either way, i think when i get the chance, will pull the dump and cut all that shit out to provide a better flow even tho keeping the same dump....till I get a new ex system anyway.

theres gotta be more to it tho.....like a velocity increase due to the decrease in runner size to get that turbine spnning efficiently...will have to readup some more on my turbo book.

Don't know. If another one pops up though I'll snatch it up for one of you fellas .
That's the rear housing

I just need a nice bonnet scoop now to fit up this cooler. Well not fit it but I want it to work haha.. Engine mounts are ordered. Hopefully get some spare time in the shop tomorrow or Friday..

What i was thinking is $300 for a dump pipe or an afternoon of using works tools and consumables and grind the sucker out, But is it worth it

I reckon most definatly...like i said, when I get the chance, i will bet doing just that.....I mean have a look at that extra bits of divider wall...takes up a fair % of space.

That separator has a single job to do, it allow the exhaust and the turbo-exhaust gases to mix. If you chop it the two lines of exhaust gas will cause a more turbulent mixing right behind the turbo back and have a detrimental effect to performance or something like that.
