Hi Tony, it's been a long time since then.
I solve the problems one by one (new battery and turbo, different glow plugs but mostly electric ones).
The car drives a lot better now, but it remains a problem in the winter.
It still starts up to -20°, but when it gets colder I have to leave it alone. I am now going to contact a distributor of "Liqui Moly" who have additives for diesel up to -35°.
I hope they have "Diesel Flow Fit-K", then the biggest problem will be solved.
PS: Most owners who have a Navara Diesel do not drive it in the winter.

Winter here is a different beast, I've managed to start the car in -11C which is about the coldest we've had.

Summer, on the other hand ... that's a whole new kettle (emphasis on the cooking appliance). I've been outside in 50 degree celcius heat, it's quite unpleasant. Only reached 40 today.

I've heard - and I've done this in my diesel heater - that kerosene also lowers the waxing point of diesel. It's supposed to be harmless to our engines, except that it lacks the lubricity of diesel fuel and that might cause an issue with the fuel pump which relies on that oiliness.

I originally come from Belgium and there the maximum temperatures are around 35-36° C.
That's warm, but +50°C then I think I'll melt.
I don't know the 'trick' with the kerosene yet, I'll look into it.

Another problem in Mongolia is the engine oil that becomes thick due to the cold, so you sometimes see truck drivers who light a fire under the crankcase to heat the oil and make it thinner.
This is solved by thinner oil, for example 5W30 (but that is more expensive and many Mongolians cannot afford this).
You should also make sure that the car is not in the icy wind.

Good post.

The most I've added to my diesel heater (not my car) was 50ml of kero to 10L of fuel. It's supposed to lower the wax point of diesel. I wouldn't replace diesel - as they point out in the article, kerosene isn't much of a lubricant and the Navara fuel pump definitely needs fuel-based lubrication!
