Does this CAV filter require a pump?
is says there no deigned for common-rails... so would this suit a zd30 then, could i just replace the old housing/filter with one of these?
ive got a filter change coming up soon, for an extra 20 odd dollars i can get this new housing and filter...

Cheers

Yeah ate, I've got this on a zd30 motor, and I've given it a bit of a flogging since installing it and it hasn't cut out from fuel starvation, so the flow rate is adequate. It doesn't require an extra lift pump, if that's what you're asking.

Just make sure you replace your existing filter assembly with something that has a primer handle.

Beauty! Mine has a chip... so the demand would be boosted when its activated.
do you have a chip by any chance?
as for the different micron grades. your using 10? have you experimented with smaller grade filters/ if so any reductions in flow?

Cheers

Yeah mate, I got a ChipIt chip, it's only set to its stock setting, but once the inter cooler is in, I'm winding up the boost to 18-20 PSI and pushing the chip up to about setting number 6. It should go faster than me after a feed of Indian...

haha fair enough.
interesting to see what the outcome is. I have a chipit chip and xr6 front mount.
so it ill be a perfect comparison.
Have you considered alcohol/water injection. If your worried about EGT.
I will have mine purchased and setup in the next few weeks.
might save you a bit of money unless your doing the intercooler yourself... where the prices will be close.

Be interested to see your water to air setup. I'm thinking down the track a bit testing out going air to air into a water to air intercooler. Plus maybe some sort of injection to bring temps down

Really keen to see how you go with this joshman. There are a few blokes on patrol4x4 running this system with good results. Can't wait to see how it turns out :)

Me either man, I'm looking forward to receiving the kit, the hardest bit is gonna be making the intercooler block fit in the engine bay, I'm going to have to do some tricky work with the turbo inlet to fit it around the intercooler and make up a bracket to mount it. It'll fit.

I'll make it fit.

It's just like Tetris.

I accomplished a few more projects this week and spent a good deal of today building things. I've wired the aircompressor across to the second battery under the bonnet, which involved re-running the entire length of cable down the passenger side of the car, but it's done, I also took the chance to run a cable to the rear of the vehicle for more rock-lights.

During the week I made up some brackets so I could mount the 30" BajaDesigns LED light bar in front of the roof rack, instead of ontop of it, now I have a roof rack I can use for things!

And the major project was to make the drawer for the rear of the truck, I've had the box in there for a good long while now, and it's about time i got the drawer made. Anyway, it's rolling on some sliding door rollers, and internally it's about 420w x 830l x 310h. My intention is to have it contain the entire camp kitchen - plates, cutlery, tea, coffee, sugar, stove, gas bottle, etc, etc.

I've still got a few rough edges to take off it and some tidying up to do. Notto mention installing all the dividers and organising how it all fits... Then its just a coat of enamel to try and waterproof the plywood a bit, but it's pretty much done otherwise.

Cool, huh?

That's coming along sweet. I was just trying to work out how to mount a led lightbar onto my aero bar rhino racks. I could use a similar idea. Was thinking of getting a Baja bar or a visionx bar. I would have to offset the bracket so it sits under the bar not inline with it.

Another day down and some more work completed on the drawer system in the tub. Today I finished the drawer and fit the kitchen stuff into it. It's not complete yet, and I've got a lot more room than I thought I would, which is good, I suppose.

And yes, I did make a knife block in the drawer.

Ok, I finally got time and daylight to unbox the water-to-air intercooler that arrived in the post last week, and heres the contents:

- The box and the open box full of styrofoam peanuts and a decent length of heater hose visible.
The radiator, pump, radiator fan and assorted fittings.
