Canopy colour mis-match

I've just got my new canopy fitted, yet the supplier (not to be named at this stage) disagrees with my dismay, IT'S A DIFFERENT COLOUR.
The supplier agrees there is a colour mis-match, but that's OK, he says.
Hang on, I paid to have the colour matched.
Oh, we try, but the plastic it's made of will make the colour different than that on the steel bits.
Get out, look at he front plastic bumper it's the same colour.
Have these guys ever heard of undercoat ????

Not happy Jan.
Anyway, we agreed to disagree, & he will swap the canopy for another.
It better be right, or else.

Has anyone else experienced this.

It is true what he say's about the colour looking different on the flexible panels compared to the metal. Some colours are worse than others. It's not noticeable at all from your photo on my screen.
Having said all that I believe there are two white colours on the D40. Maybe they got them mixed up.

They had the paint code.

u wont ever get a 100% perfect match, a lot of factors come into play like brands of paint, how old exisint paint is, the materials that are bein painted.

the supplyer would have taken the paint code and put it into the computer and the computer would have given the paint details n they would have sprayed it

From what i have been told, the colour only changes on plastic when its metallic NOT a solid colour like white.

I don't want to big mouth anyone, as he has agreed to swap with a another new one.
The D40 is only 2 weeks, so the paint hasn't faded much.
They did take the cash to "match" the colour in the first place, and at no time did they say there could be a colour difference.

it should match however there are many variables to factor in.
the biggest issues with colour matching off the vehicle is the actual paint application itself. The only way to get a 100% colour match is the blend the tub and rear panels with the canopy

I agree there can be a slightly different colour but that is completely different.
And as mentioned above they should get a solid colour like white almost perfect.

its an ARB.........mine is the storm grey or whatever the colour is called and I would say its 98% accurate, lil bit off but you wouldnt really pic it

unless its something you just cant live with. I would save the hassles and get a price reduction for the colour coding and part ways... as they might replace it and it turn out no different.

It more than likely will come down to the fact the material is possibly black underneath. My painter told me you can get around it by possibly applying 2 coats of base colour and then clear it.
See if you can find a paint specialist and just ask them

The base colour for the canopy is white. as it is abs plastic.. i would say they used a grey undercoat instead of white...

You may have gone to the same place I did.
I sometimes think they "assume" Nissan Polar White & Artic White are the same, or close enough that the punters won't notice.

My colour coded white canopy looks exactly like yours. The panel work is more of an off-white when compared to the brighter white of the canopy.
This was colour coded with the correct code (apparently) by a paintshop, not ARB.
I was a bit pissed at the time, but now im over it & are happy my tools are out of the weather.
A friend of mine used to work in the paintshop @ holden and he told me that with white, if the same colour primer wasnt used as the bodywork, then it will look a different shade.
He also said that white was very unforgiving & only a very slight shade difference stands out more than other colours.

I've got a silver Flexiglass canopy and the color match is perfect. I wouldn't have though it's rocket science to get them to match.

A mate of mine runs a panel shop, he reckons matching paint colors even when you've got the paint code is one of the most difficult things they have to do.

Evidently the paint varies from batch to batch quite a bit.
