most people have a reasonable idea on their own capability and are surprised at how capable their 4x4 is. If you practice and hang out with other 4x4 drivers and you'll learn heaps without doing a course. BUT sand driving can be very challenging and if driving on a beach there is a real danger of getting stuck and loosing your car as the tide rises. some sand techniques, like powering through turns to maintain steering, can be daunting to the beginer. so with that i'd say..... the sand course would be more beneficial than the others IF you are going to be doing it regularly.

Also, if you get a chance watch these and look for other YouTube clips you'll find heaps. these clips are a bit old but still relevant.

I'd ask the course organizers which one they would recommend for you, I had been 4wding for years and went and did a bush beginners course and still learnt heaps. Take your missus along too if you have one, they will encourage her to have a go too.

Completely agree with Matt! I did an intro 2 dayer and learnt heaps and the Minister of Finance enjoy herself too.
