Here's one for the brains trust! Battery check light not illuminating on "key on position" . It was staying on after start up and going off whilst you raised the revs but, now it's going off whilst on idle?
Alternator doesn't seem to be giving out the right charge rate either?
Do you think Alternator or dash cluster? The battery check light does flicker on fire up so I'm assuming it ok and not blown.. any thoughts... cheers

Alternator is relatively new, 4 years old but not many ks on it, 50"000 tops.. never seen mud in its life or river crossings! I have a video but It won't upload, it's telling me files to big?? Any suggestions on how to fix that?

probably the resistor issue that i had.
there is a couple of resistors on the alt light circuit and they seam to have an issue and crack the solder joins. not hard to fix, simple resolder, but it means pulling the instrument cluster apart. getting the needles lined back up correctly is a pita.

Ahhhh oh shit! Easier to get a new cluster you think?
depends on your rules about mileage as the odometer will not be correct with a new cluster.
cost wise cheap to repair, just pita getting those needles right as the pointers are not indexed.
i'll have to check for photos, i may not have taken any as it was a rush job.

It's definitely worth a try to fix it.. I'm taking it to the auto electrician tomorrow so I'll see what he says... it was fine one day and the next morning up comes the battery warning light..

The battery alt light should come on when you turn the key to the on position- right? ...

just looking through the book, the other option is alt regulator problem. i assuming nothing else is not working and the 10a fuse is ok.

Juuuust double checking ;)

Started it up this morning and light was off when the keys in the on position and had come back on once Started..
Ran it to the sparky and he checked the dash light circuit, buld/led etc all good,, which meant Alternator ..

$330 for a 90amp OEX and it's all good again..

I'd love to know what let a jaylec 130amp 50'000 k old Alternator down, its never seen any dirt and mud ect BUT! She did sit for a month in airport parking undercover..

If anyone keen to check and repair it, its theirs... I can't be bothered trying lol but it was about $550 new?.

Thanks for your help Tweek.. she was sitting at 14.2 on idle so it's all good now.. cheers

Much better :)
