Hey guys

i have a 2010 d22 str, and have got a 2" lift kit install....

Im trying to achieve more lift.

i use the car mainly fully loaded with my tools but will be packing light when going camping and abit of 4x4...

atm the back sags abit due to the weight and i was thinking about getting the Iron Man Load Assist leaf add on. are they good and useful or just a waste of time.

to get abit more height at the front ive wound the torsion up so my height is 750mm and i have about a 10mm gap from my upper bump stop. could it go higher?

i do have plans on buying calmini upper control arms to get a 3" lift also doing a 2" body lift

is there any other small things i can add on just to get abit more lift?

had a mate suggest rear lifting blocks or add a leaf to get abit more height in the rear... i think theyre abit dodgy lol

so whats your thoughts people..

cheers!!!

can go higher but it will be dangerous and pretty much undriveable.

Its an IFS ute mate sorry to say this is what you signed up for when you bought it and the calmini arms really only make 2.75" possible not 3" they will also make your car illegal so beware of that...

So basicly 2" lift, 2" body lift and bigger tyres are the only options?, what about the rear with the load.. Basicly the rear drops 15mm due to the weight, how can i stiffen it up to support more load, will the iron man load assist work? It basicly looks like half a leaf lol

I only know the rules for QLD but you can do up to 125mm 50mm suspension lift, 50mm body lift and 50mm larger tyres (they are the 25mm bit)

extended shackles are illegal because they twist while you drive, lift blocks whats the point? just do a body lift and do it properly.

@the OP if you fit heavy duty springs to cope with the load it will ride like shit when unladen, 15mm is not that much, I'd just put up with it, you could get airbags but it puts alot of shear stress across your chassis.

most extended shackles have a third pin in the centre or a bit of RHS or tune welded in to handle the stress of the extra length. standard length shackles are just two plates and two pins. someone correct me if i'm wrong...

Hhm im not sure if i got those installed with my 2" lift... Dumb question how will i know if the extended? At the moment i have greaseable shackles...

you wouldn't have but you could always measure them and compare to a stock one.

so it depends where you live and if you're wanting to keep your ute legal (remembering that insurance etc depends on that too). sounds like you need a trailer for your heavy tools and that way you've got a nice handling ute for the rest of the time. someone on here had done the whole 5" lift thing and said it handled like shit, and someone said they're almost undrivable, so don't do it, otherwise save your dollars and go buy a patrol, probably cost the same in the long run and you'll have a legal and better machine
