I have a four door, steel tray ute with adjustable rear shockies. What would be the best setting for going off road, mainly in soft sand? High or low pressure?

And if anyone has a similar set up, what would the maximum psi usually be? ( i can't give the brand name as its worn off...)

Any help appreciated

Cheers

you say adjustable shockies but talking low and high pressure, and PSI. Do you mean adjustable shockies like tough dog etc with the dial or do you mean airbags? either way i would think for soft sand etc that low setting would be the best, low psi. thats just my thoughts. I would have thought it would stop you from raising a wheel and let the suspension work??

They are adjustable by a valve positioned under the tray. The same valve as tyre... So compressed air does the trick. I guess you call this an airbag setup? They look like conventional shocks though. And they are Monroe...

The cars off a mine site so I'm not exactly sure what they've done.

Thanks for the feedback

I know what he is talking about, a mate of mine has those shocks on his minitruck, they basicly work like airbags except they are shocks......if that clears anything up.....

yes, the above description suits. heres a photo anyway.

Yep the old Monroe air shockers, didn't know you could still get 'em, they were big news in the late 70's early 80's I think, maybe a bit later than that.

The big advertising thing about them was you could pump 'em up when you had a load on, and let 'em down when you didn't, so just like airbags these days.
