Does any one know what the ABLS actually does on the D40's?

There isn't to much information on this site.

I can't find a mention of either ABSL (your subject line) or ABLS (in the paragraph).

The closest is ABS. That's the device that senses a wheel locking up and forces the brake to relax a little allowing the wheel to spin. You can tell when it happens, there's a very noticeable vibration through the pedal.

If that's not what you're after, could you tell us where in the car this is located?

Its in the specifications for the new D40 STX's Its called "Active brake limited slip differential".
I was just wondering what it its meant to do?

All so what does the VDC " Vehicle Dynamic Control" do ?

I beg to differ there is lots of information on this site, just not an abbreviation for ABSL or ABLS

Perhaps if you tell us where you saw those letters we might be able to narrow something down for you. I know of one thing it could be but without knowing more about where you've seen it I may be leading you down the wrong path and I'd hate to give mis-information

Edit: Although I did once mention in the "what's playing in your Nav" thread a song by BLS that's kind of close and it's often in my D40

Must be a typo, I think he's referring to my recent thread on ADSL2. I think you'll find people are turning more to the Navara forum than Whirlpool these days.

Thats strange. I have a D40 and I can get 100 Mbps down, and 40 up over my fibre.

Fibre should be fine, it's based on light which is faster than electrons over wire (hard), although with decent conductor materials the VOP is still pretty good. It means that the only real difference between light and hard is that you can sleep with a light on.

to me sounds like it just 2 different types of traction control. a mate has a r51 pathy with that gear on it and makes a massive difference in the wet. rather than just wheel spinning all over the shop the car uses the computer to find traction for you and as long as you have abit of momentum it will get further than a standard d40 without the traction control system.

Correct Kyle,

If it has stability control it will have ABLS. Normal clutch style LSD's aren't compatible.

Our Jeep has it and seems to work pretty good, but like everything else on modern 4WD I just hope it doesn't F**** up, otherwise it's going to cost big $$.

ABSL is where the brain of the truck uses the trucks rear brakes to transfer power from one axle to the other under wheel slip. remember some of the guys were saying the new 550 had an open center diff, well its the brakes that do the limited slip thingy.
VDC I think is where it uses all 4 wheels brakes to basically do the same thing. Its all just active brake control
Frontiers and European navara's have had this for a while.
As usual Nissan is giving us the standard features from elsewhere as new exciting features.
And
Once we get FTTH we wont need ADSL 1 or 2 and we will all be playing wif meggabuts and meggaflops lol

Still prefer The old way it was all done, but i suppose everything is going digital now
Will just have to live with it.
