Hi All, Having an issue passing roadworthy due to the airbag light on my 2006 D22 ZD30 not coming on. I have spent a considerable amount of time reading through the Nissan workshop manuels that are avilable online trying to diagnose the fualt. I went through the basics intitally looking for blown fuses or loose connectors but couldn't see anything faulty. Even swapped a few fuses out just in case.
After reading through the manuels, I tried to running diagnostics using the button on the door (push 7 times after switching ignition on), but the light still didn't respond.
I pulled the gauge cluster out, thinking it was a globe but turns out it's a hard wired LED on the circut board. I testing it to the best of my knowledge with a multimeter on the board itself and it seemed to be ok. I reinstalled and the light worked briefly coming on for like 5 seconds and then went out as it should normally after starting. After a few more cycles of the ignition it stopped working again.
I connect my laptop up and ran the Nissscan consult software to try and test the airbag module. It talks to the ECU ok but not the airbag module. I wasn't confident that my SRS Diagnostic computer (under the centre of the dash) wasn't the fault, so I purchased one from a wrecker, swapped it over, same situation, Nissscan doesn't talk to it and no light still.
So I thought I might have a faulty cluster or more specifcally LED on the cluster as I did notice a little bit of corrosion on one of the pins where the cable goes into the cluster. I ordered myself a new cluster from a wrecker, installed it and still no light.
My latest idea was to install a new clock spring as I'd seen it suggested a few times. Unfortunately still no luck.
If anyone else has had the issue and knows of anything else apart form the clock spring or what I have check that would be great. I'd also like to know if it's normal for the Nissscan to not be able to talk to the SRS Diagnostic module? I did think maybe it was as perhaps consult didn't have that function back in 2006. It is the Consult 1 software too for anyone who might be wondering.
Cheers Brad.
