G'Day Fellas,

Just wanted to post up a Solid Axle Swap (SAS) kit we have recently developed for the current model Hilux.

D40 Navara will be next vehicle to get the chop...

We market this conversion and kits as developed by Buds Customs, who are located in Greenbank, BrisVegas.

This is a $10'990 drive in, drive out conversion with QLD D.O.T approval.
Includes all work on the front end, and a change of ratio's in the rear (4.1)

Then there is the 4 link rear... $4500 drive in, drive out.

Anyway here is the build up thread...

As she arrived... 4" drop bracket kit and 32's

early mock ups and measuring

ABS sensor rings... ABS works fine on the conversion.

Then we move onto the shock towers... first cut off all the IFS junk and prepare chassis rails for the new plates...

Then tack the chassis plates into place

Then we insert the shock towers and weld everything into place

Here you see the radius arm mount which incorporates the crossmember receiver as well... not to brag, but check out the welding on this conversion

Here we move onto the custom front diff housing being built.

We opted for this option as opposed to flipping the 80 Series diff because it is cheaper and easier. All brand new, better clearance and just cooler.

Using a stock 80 Series diff on a 05+ Hilux is not an option because the drop on the transfer case is on the opposite side to the 80 Series diff.

This diff housing can take upto a 9" carrier, and will easily accommodate GQ and GU centers.

"Weld Porn" anyone...

Almost finished, just a few things left to do...

Anyway that is all the info we have up until this point.
Looking forward to having this 4 link rear finished and then hopefully early in the new year getting a D40 in and starting on that.

So if anyone has a D40 and is keen for a SAS let us know.

Cheers
Matt

i didn't see the robots in your workshop that produced those welds! Nice job.

Forget about the D40, what about the D22 instead?

Very cool, and beautiful looking welds.

What rust preventative treatment is done to the insides of the chassis rails where the paint will have burnt off, if I may ask?

Happy to donate my D40 Dual cab as the pilot for your SAS. I live on Brisbane's southside.

Nice one Cam.

Lets have a chat early in the New Year and see if we can work something out.

One question I have is regarding diff ratio options for the D40's.

What's available?

Cheers
Matt

There are no diff ratio's options for a D40, factory or aftermarket.

Rubicon running gear would be the best option IMO.

Really, that s#$%house.

What is the stock ratio?

Any difference between V6 and Diesel diff ratio's?

What about US trucks... I wonder if the diff centers are the same in the Titans or Armada's?

Might have to make custom rear diff housing as well and run LC80, GQ or GU centers all round.

Cheers
Matt
