    Another D40 timing chain

Mines leased so dealer serviced however they did end up doing it under warranty. Also took three days to do work. Nav hasn't felt this good in years. Off topic I know but I also sealed airbox & removed baffle. No downside so far just all good.

    Another D40 timing chain

Lander at Prospect. They doubted I'd have much luck with the claim but put it in anyway & HQ came through. Agree on the recall, very frustrating though.

    Another D40 timing chain

Was informed today that timing chain job was covered 100% by the out of warranty claim. Awesome news and well done Nissan for coming through. Does make you wonder about a recall though...

From the info I've read & heard timing chain issue involves 06 to 09 spanish. Was told part installed was upgraded to avoid reoccurence. Fingers crossed.

    Another D40 timing chain

Cautionary tale as much as anything. 2007 Spanish D40 with 150k km on it & had a noisy "fanbelt" for approx 20k km which nissan dicked around with & I got used to. Turns out the noise was timing chain & $3300 later motor is quieter than I remembered new. Phoned Nissan who recommended putting an...

    Rusty roof line D40

Have found the paint on the roof of my d40 to be wafer thin. Tiniest chip rusts in no time. I have had deep scratch on tub for years with no sign of rust at all. Roof got me that scared I tossed a Couplertec in it. Nissan shrugged it off as different depths of paint (????) and that was it. Keep...

Anyone using Bilstein E653 (5100 height adjustable) shocks on an aussie D40?

Approx 1/2' over what I had. I have ARB sahara bar & no winch but do have bash plates underneath (check garage). Gave front end a nice pickup. Very tempting to go higher however bounce was annoying & not much room from coil bucket to UCA.

Anyone using Bilstein E653 (5100 height adjustable) shocks on an aussie D40?

Have had these installed in my 07 stx with OME HD springs. Trial & error showed that the first perch over stock (1/2") to be were they worked best. Any higher & the bounce was excessive (too much preload). Have the usual camber issue but nothing too bad. Previously had the Bilstein HD struts &...

    Bilstein adjustable front struts

Just over 1/2 inch over what I had. The spring perch was lifted to the half inch mark so it was to be expected. When I had it on the higher marks the lift was actually less than it should have been. I guess the spring was too compressed then. I'm not sure. The yanks are obsessed it seems with...

    Bilstein adjustable front struts

Have recently installed these in conjunction with 5100 series rears. I am using H/D OME springs front & rear & after some trial & error have settled on second setting from stock (1/2 inch) setting on strut. Any higher & spring was wound too tight & bounce was a major issue. Am now very happy &...

    audio set up/question

I put 6" x 9" two ways in the front with tweeters disconnected for the splits & 6" woofer from splits in the rear. Pioneer head unit lets me run these as subs which works with the levels set right. Didn't think it would work (nor did JB) but bugger me it does. Speakers are Alpine R Series.

    Woolworths Diesel Freezing up

Changes are made at the refining stage to reduce the cloud point of diesel. Summer grade typically has a cloud point of +2oC whereas winter grade has a cloud of -5oC. Alpine diesel has a cloud a lot lower again. (& is closer to kero in a lot of ways) The cloud point of diesel is the temp at...
