    Knock in front suspension

It could be a drop link. I had one go a few years back (another car) and the service people could not cure it. Dropped it in for an MOT (UK version of road worthy) and they picked it up in minutes. Was about a $20 fix. Nissan on the other hand might be a bit more expensive. Worth checking...

    Winch install D40

Like the look of those Blue sea solenoids but at $230 ish a pop I will go the cheaper option for now. Also like the inline isolators. Wonder if I can get one separately? Regards Murph

    Alternator down!

Looks like my alternator has shat itself after only 70000k. Was out getting muddy and wet at teh weekends and everything seemed fine. Yesterday when I was driving the car I was getting the battery symbol up intermittently and I thought it was related to some wet wires as my blower motor has...

    Do you smoke?

Smoked for a couple of months at uni but gave up as I didn't like it. Still smoke the odd Cuban cigar when I have them. Good when camping with a rum or whisky.

    Winch install D40

Thanks for the replies guys. Like the idea of a positive isolation so will probably go the 500A switch. Will also look into the starter solenoid as that would be perfect for having a switch in the cab. Regards Murph

    Winch install D40

Hi guys, Anyone have any feedback on the methods used to isolate a winch when not in use? I have read previous threads that mention using a 500a Battery isolation Switch. Has anyone had any issues with these? Looking at something similar for myself as I have a wireless controller. Was...

just broke my fave thing on my d40

Took a STX 550 for a test drive the other week and it still had the auto feature. Auto down was on but not auto up. I fixed that  They may have changed something with some of the 2010 vehicles? Murph

So what is your preferred beer?

Mostly drink cider, rum or whisky. Magners Cider or Mercury draught normally. Will try any rum, usual tipple bundy red or five or bacardi black (if I can find it) Single malt whisky - Balvennie Signature or Highland Park (if I can get it) If I had to drink beer I would go for Boags Premium.

How often do you treat your truck to a wash/wax?

I have owned my D40 for about a year now and have properly washed it twice. That said I do wash off the mud etc. with a hose after 4wd'ing. Gets coated in dust on a daily basis so I don't tend to wash it that often. Murph

    Tri-nations

Thoroughly enjoyed tonight's deciding game. Both sides put a lot in but Wallabies wanted it more. Roll on the world cup! I hope you don't play like that against us (Ireland) in the pool game. I also hope that we can raise our game as the test matches leading up to the world cup have been poor...

    Pirelli Scorpion ATR

You are right about 265/70/16 being the biggest you can legally go in QLD. You can only go a max of 15mm greater than factory tyre diameter. 255/70/16 is 763.4 mm dia 265/70/16 is 777.4 mm dia, difference 14 mm 265/75/16 is 803.9 mm dia, difference 40.5 mm I used http://www.voxwheels.com/ for...

    what pisses you off

What pisses me off is that it is too difficult for local bottle shops to import good cider. Mercury draught is ok but I love Magners (apple only - pear is for poofs), Koppaberg, Rekorderlig. You want refreshing? Try a pint bottle of Magners in a proper sized (pint) glass crammed with ice...

    Outback Ideas Recovery points

Yeah mate. I wouldn't use anything but high tensile. Got a tap and cleaned up the threads on one of the nuts but other is too badly damaged! Will have to get a helicoil kit and rethread the nut. At least I have one fully installed recovery point now :) Murph
