zd30 wont idle. run or rev.

Just went out to start my ute. Was running like a dream just yesterday. And it kicked over but would only idle at avout 400rpm no matter how hard i reved it. And yhe black smoke comeingout the back was extreme. Anyideas? Seems like dirty injectors but seems way too extreme..

Have you checked air and fuel filters? I'ts a good idea to rule out the simple things first.

Isn't there a little switch - neutral position switch/indicator on the gearbox that stuffs up occasionally causing limp mode to occur?

there is that switch but it doesn't cause that problem or limp mode.

jardz91, i would be checking air inlet for blockages and exhaust. make sure some bugger hasn't rammed something up the tail pipe!
