Hey guys, glad to have joined the forum. Not happy about my first post! I have recently bought an 03 STR Navara and murphys law got me. After 2 weeks the turbo S';t itself. Any ideas of a good replacement and a rough idea of what its going to cost me to replace it?? I've been looking at the hitachi ht 12? Any info would be much appreciated!

G'day mate and welcome to the forum.How far gone is the turbo it hasnt **** and gone through the engine has it.There is no intercooler to catch the turbo fragments.Dave is in the middle of putting an after market turbo on his so he might be the best to talk to.
Its gone!! Not entirely sure whether anything has sucked through to do anymore damage yet. She still runs fine at idol so hopefully i got lucky. My mechanic is pretty confident nothing has gone through. All the fragments seem pretty large and are still in the turbo. Ill have a quote tomorrow for a replacement refurbished turbo from Superior Turbos in Toowoomba. Im just hoping someone has some advice on other options! Sorry for rambling, just a bit stressed!

did it make any noises when it went? Was it obvious? How many kms has it done?
Your turbo aside they are good cars though.
Look at the bright side youll have a new turbo on yours.
Im fitting an intercooler to catch bits in case mine goes,120k on the clock and fingers crossed for now.

Ring AXT and get one of there turbo's.
Made a lot of noise when it went!! Scared the **** of me! Only done 134k. My girlfriends uncle is fixing it. New turbo will be here tomorrow so hopefully ill be back on the road on the weekend. Setting me back about 2000 for the fix. Im just lucky i got the ute for a real good price so ill still end up paying less than what its worth! I did get lucky too, with all the bits getting trapped in the turbo and not doing any further damage!! Just an unlucky thing to happen to what has already been an awesome vehicle in the short time that ive had it!!
