I did both as you have circled, but as above it doesn't really matter if you only do one side or both. Just make sure you use stainless not alloy or mild steel as some people have...

I originally blocked mine at the valve itself. The round shaped one. But now I am going to fit this between the EGR valve and the inlet manifold to eliminate the jet tube that causes restriction to the inlet air flow.

You can see the restriction.

The old and the new.

Just out of interest, how much was that? And where from?

Just on the blocking of the pipe, I guess blocking both ends gives a bit of security if the coolant passage around it ever corroded through and dumped coolant in there, at least it won't go back into the intake or turbo, or get intake air or exhaust into the cooling system...

You can get the plates from Paul at YD25.com. He dose a full EGR delete kit but this is only part of it. I'm not sure how much he charges for the kit or just the plate on its own. I got mine as a freebie because of a favor I did for him. Give him a call he's a top bloke and will help you out. I think this is the best way to block the EGR as it gets rid of any restriction.

Cheers

Hey Guys,

So I have a yd25 2011 model and wanted to do the EGR mod. I asked on the 4wd navara page on facebook which plate I would need for my car and people pointed me in a certain direction. So I went on eBay and bought that specific plate (on ebay it also said for yd25 d22). I got the plate in the mail a few days ago and when I went to attach it to my car, I realised it does not fit at all. If you have a look at the attached pics its a completely different shape.

My friend also bought a plate for his zd30 engine and his fits fine.. When looking at it the shape of mine looks like the shape of the plate he got.. But the measurement between the centre of both bolts on egr pipe thing is 65mm, whereas the plates have a centre-centre length of 70mm.

Can anyone point my in the right direction of where I can get the right plate from.. or If I'm just special and looking in the wrong place etc? (btw I went to mount it in the left yellow hand circle of the picture the OP had posted)

cheers for help

It may be designed to go in first join straight off the turbo. Have a look behind the alternator where it joins the turbo. That is a better place to block it anyway. Or do it the way I have done it by removing the jet tube. (See previous posts).

Cheers.

How did you go with it lavey? i bought the same one for my 2012 d22 and also found it wasnt the same , did it fit near the turbo?

I'd be sending that photo to him and telling him you will send it back for a refund. Even if the holes did line up the edges of the plate will be very close to not blocking off the egr pipe completely anyway, and if it leaks around the edge of the plate it will make a horrible sound too...

The price people want is a rip considering you can go to bunnings and get a stainless plate for a mailbox, 5 min with a grinder and a drill and you can do your own. Only about $6 or something for the plate, and a few min and voila all done...

I ordered mine from somewhere in europe for around $15 it would cost more to send it back, oh well i have bought a bbq scraper and ill cut it myself this time

I did the EGR mod on Friday and found an immediate difference with much less lag and better response in the lower gears.
One thing that i have noticed is that the motor has a different sound. Its not a hiss and i have not got any leaks around the blanking plate, its hard to describe, maybe more of a clatter??
