Thanks for the help, problem I'm having is finding someone else at the same skill level to ride with . Mates are all too quick and what is easy to them bites my balls big time. I'm currently nursing a bruised thigh, I washed the front tyre out on a slippery tree root yesterday riding on my own, didn't even see it, just ended up under the bike before I even knew what had happened., luckily it wasn't any worse otherwise I'd be still lying in the forest waiting for someone to stumble across me. Got my L's last Saturday so I'm considering buying this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CRF-250X...Motorcycles&hash=item416115300d#ht_499wt_1153 because it can be road reged.
Is that too much bike for a 5ft 4" 62kg weakling?

I'm aiming to ride to Cape York, I think it will be a hydrogen powered bike at the rate I'm improving.LOL

Yep, next truck will be a V8 Cruiser ute 100%.

4WDriving is good but as the tracks get closed off thanks to our Red Necked Bogan mates I think the bike will be a good alternate to getting out into the bush. Cape York, then the Simpson followed by the Canning is my aim. My necks already F**ked with a C4-5 injury causing paralysis on my left side, might as try the things I always wanted to do before I'm totally stuffed.

I like the Yamaha's but their seat height is 970mm, about 100mm too high for me. I would need stilettos to touch the ground!

I know some blokes who might follow you across the Simpson.

I just went through this thread - not a motor bike fella myself but there are some bloody nice rides amongst the posts.. Great stuff.

Lucky thing, love the XTs. I had an XT600 Tenere (blue) before I bought the FJ1200.

One thing I have been doing lately is watching yoo tube videos of people restoring their old 80's and 90's two strokes, IT490's, RM500's, YZ490's etc. I had a 1982 IT175J, never got to own one of those big bore two stroke monsters. Watching the videos though ahhhhhh, BWWAAAAAAAPPPPPP!!!!!!

Just got the inspiration I needed to do up my first motor bike. A 1969 Honda K1 Z50. I know its only a small engine but I love the thing, had it since before I can remember. I also have a 1971 Honda XL250 which my father gave to me. She is an old girl but has never let me down considering Dad payed just $850 for it 8 years ago.
 
Picking up a new KLR650 Tommorow. We just bought an 06 KLE500 for the Mrs.

I'd suggest heading over to the KLR650 forum for some tips and hints, good bunch of guys and what they don't know about KLR650's wouldn't fill a postage stamp :)

Also each year the Australian group from the forum have a weekend getaway on the bikes (sort of like a KLR version of the Navarra Muster) which you might be interested in. I've linked the Australian sub forum on the KLR forum below.

im an apprentice Parts Interpreter, for an motorcycle shop..... it didnt have much chance of me not personilising it, but she always gets the best.
