What Locker should I get?

I have been spending a lot of time looking at what sort of lockers I should get. I have a couple of questions which I would preferably like some feedback on...

1. What do you guys recommend first, a front air locker, a rear air locker. Or should I just save up and get both front and rear lockers done at same time?

2. Second question is, I'm from NZ... Is there a brand in NZ that I should specifically go for? There's an ARB shop thats 1 hour hour away from me. Do I go to them and get an air locker?

I'd Love to hear your guys opinion as to what you'd recommend. Currently Driving a 2013 D40 Nav, witha 2" suspension, 2" body lift on 20" rims but on 31" All terrains

You can go either route - air or electric. Snagging either air line or cable will cause issues, so have everything routed properly. ARB air lockers are best accompanied by an ARB on-board compressor which you can then use for tyre inflation (it's quite a good compressor). Harrop e-lockers are just as good and wires are easier to repair when off-road and the worst happens.

Both perform the function. If money's tight do the front first, it's a weaker diff and suffers terribly if you lift a wheel and it spins just before it touches the ground. You can always use the handbrake to assist the rear diff if you lift one rear wheel (as long as your LSD is working) until you can convert the rear as well.

Harrop... all day! Or try an auto/lunch box locker! There's not a lot to chose from for the front diffs eh

Careful with some mechanics- You go in to have the l.s.d replaced and you might end up with a single wheeler , pay top dollar for it and then spend years justifying it to yourself and any other **** "that will listen to you" about being "ripped- well and truly a new one"- that it's for the better ! Lol!!! Be careful!

Oh yeah, there's plenty of people that think they know their stuff, but really, all their good for is handing out lollies at public gatherings ! So be careful!

Diffs are a specialist field my man so be careful on who you chose to install! They have tolerances that if you get wrong when setting up pinions etc you can lock up a diff! Start withb360° diffs, they've been at it for ages.. use a diff centre!

Stay away from those "know it all mutts" that put themselves in white-coats and creep about sprouting ***** they know nothing about, most have most likely never fitted one, have most likely never owned one,,,,, but know allllll about it!
Most have never even seen one on a bench, they spew the generic crap they've picked up and that's about the length of it ..

You know the ones, they creep round long enough looking over professionals shoulders they think thet know it all.. eh! Put themselves in white coats armed with a clip board and there you have it- the official know it all **** ! Every work shop has one!

Oh,,,, And especially, don't go listening to arses like me on auto forums... Always get 2 or more opinions!

Just my opinion

Rear lockers are handy and will improve traction in the sticky stuff, especially with the limited travel on leaf springs.

But fronts, on a very long wheelbase Navara with road tyres! A bit like sharpening a butter knife.

For me arb every time.
