hi

at 2 months ago my pick up was overheating
the mecanician has change the head gasket and resurfacing the head cylinder
but
100kms later my turbo compressor is dead and i reoverheating

and now that is my probleme , look at the movie :( the engine is cold )

the head cylinder is dead ? or juste my water cooling of the turbo ?

thank you

My first reaction is the head or head gasket but if a mechanic has just replace those you would expect them to be fine.

I think it's very odd that the system keeps pressurising that much. You expect a LITTLE as the water expands due to being heated, but I think yours is going well beyond that. That amount of pressure is usually only caused by exhaust gases passing through the head gasket into the water jacket.

I've not heard of a turbocharger causing this problem - yes, the turbo is a pump, but the pressure side shouldn't be able to do that to the radiator and if it could, you'd see coolant in the intake manifold (and probably have a pool of coolant in the bottom of the intercooler).

It doesn't look like it's your EGR cooler - there are no hoses connected to yours.

There is a way of testing the radiator for exhaust gases and that would be the next thing I'd do.

thank you for you reponse , i also think it is a head cylinder or head gasket ,
i can buy a new head cylinder and gasket this week end ..

hi
today i have remove the head cylinder and i have water on the 2 and 3 cylinder lol
the head gasket and the head cylinder is dead , tomorrow morning i can buy on new head cylinder , gasket etc , but my gasket is on 3 cut-outs , i buy on other 3co or a 0co ? or it's necessary to look the piston protrusion ?

thank

Why is it leaking again is the question?

You have to replace the head gasket with the same type - if yours has 3 cutouts, that's what you need to get.

Rumpig's question should be answered before reassembly. Why did it happen just 100km after the last rebuild?

ok thank , hi have the service manual on a pdf

the HC and HG is dead because it's more resurfacing and valve has been hit when they resurfacing and on the mountain road ( 35°) the engine heat

i have a question for my thermostat , i live in GUADELOUPE FWI ( but in september i live in perth ;) )
my navara can drive on the island with big mountain and 35°c temp any time

i remove the thermostat or not ?

When you refill the engine coolant you need to get all the air out. People have had problems with this before. The factory temp gauges are ***** too, get an OBD2 reader and the Torque app.

hi
then I ordered 1 cutouts, or the mechanician told me that he disassembly there had a 2 cutouts, and as the resurfacing was important, it has notches on 3 cutouts , for the pressure ..

I selected what?

thank

If the resurfacing has removed some material, you might want to go up another cut-out. See if you can find out how much material has been removed.

0 cut-outs = 0.0354mm thick (measured with the head bolts tightened) and each extra cut-out adds 0.001mm to the thickness so a 3-cut-out gasket is 0.0384mm thick. Max is 5 cut-outs.

Getting the air out is as easy as cranking the heater on high and fan on full noise till the heater gets hot????? True or is there another way it has to be done?
