Wet glow plugs

Hey guys i pulled my glow plugs today to see if they were causing an issue when cold which i believe they are, but the main concern was how wet and oily they were when i pulled them out, is this normal? if not where should i start for diagnosis

what engine?
does the oil smell like diesel or engine oil?

zd30 bro i didnt even think to smell it just assumed it was oil, i have a photo ill post see what you think

just when and had a sniff on the rag it was hard to tell but im leaning towards it being diesel

did you try and start it before removal ?
