hi all, im hoping sombody can help me. i got a 99 navara and i went low on deisle and it cut out so i changed the filter and primed it and it went again but ever since it will only rev to 2500 revs and then it starts shuddering like its sucking air in i checked the fuel line and the injectors all ok it runs tidy when driving evryday but wont give full power when needed. i was told it might be the waste gate but not sure what this is or does and where to locate it, if anyone can help it would be much appreciated. thanks

Hi Alfryn, the wastegate regulates the turbine speed of the turbo essentially by diverting uneeded exhaust out of the turbo.
I reckon you could have a fuel blockage somewhere still in your fuel system if it's shuddering.

Hey Alfryn, your wastegate is a part of the turbo system that effectively regulates the speed of the turbine. I wouldn't think that would be your problem, but more likely there is gunk on your fuel pickup/pump? Maybe empty the tank and have a look.

most likely sucking air in around the filter or primer. also check you didn't get fuel hoses around the wrong way.

thanks

Look for the fuel line going into the injection pump. Undo it, in there is a tiny little filter in the injection pump.

Get a small piece of wire and fish it out, clean all the crap off it and install it again.

Good luck.

Maybe the fuel pickup in the tank sucked in some crap when you ran out, could be a blockage in the fuel system anywhere there is a change of diameter (like where it enters the filter etc). the underfueling may be only partial when the revs increase and demand higher flow.

Are you getting a check engine warning light on the dash? The shudder, is it only at certain engine speeds or all the way through the rev range under load? have you recently lifted the suspension (tailshaft uni joint shudder - seperate to the reving issue possibly)?

when i had a blocked prefuel filter i couldnt rev past 2500rpm without it just sputtering and losing power, i had to shift to a higher gear to gain power haha

check you installed the fuel filter right, check the hoses are right.

can always get an air compressor and blow out the main fuel line (remember to undo the fuel filler caps first)

thakns

it only shudders at 50 to 60 mph i dont get any light on the dash blown through the lines all clear had the tank off checked the pick up filter all clear cleand tank. i had a tank of deisle and run a pipe from the tank straight to filter and it was still the same. will the other ideas wtll get back to you also can anyone tell me if theres a diagnostic plug on it and where to locate it thanks again.

The QD32 wont have diagnostics as its not computer controlled.

Did you get the banjo filter out ?

hi tried the fuel line going in to the pump but could not find the little filter just a litle spring was i in the right place cheers.

You certainly were. It should be under the springunless someone has removed it before.

Get a small piece of wire and fish it out.

Good luck.
