Hi all, I've been having issues with my turbo on my ZD30 d22 nav, I've blown 3 in 4 months, it keeps destroying the back impeller wheel! Oil pressure is fine and I usually let it cool down! It doesn't get driven a great deal I'd just like to know what is the main reason the turbos blow in the ZD 30s as there is obviously more to it then bad turbos, the replacement turbos have both come from a wreckers!

You might be continually replacing your blown one with a worn one

Have you checked oil flow to bearings? and all vacuum lines are ok?
Is your wastegate working, you may be overboosting?

someone on here had the oil line to the turbo clog up with carbon ie the oil in the line cooked which in turn blocked the line.

get oil test down to see if there is diesel in the oil. that stuffs the turbo bearings fairly quickly.

could be a dodgy wrecker selling you stuffed turbo's.

The oil return line is just as important.make sure you can pour 500ml to a ltr down it with minimal hesitation

need more info on whats happening to the exhaust wheel

is is snapping at the shaft....or fins randomly flying off before total breakage

-the oil feed should be either professionally cleaned or renewed
- what boost are you running....have you checked?
- oil drain free flowing ( DONT USE gasket goo on the oil drain it will block off flow)
- egt temps ?
