Cam someone please confirm that the chain is stretched?
Just want a second opinion before I go and spend $700+ on a new case

Took 6 hours to get it to this stage, pulling out suspension took the longest as the T bars were stuck in quiet well and the amount of mud/dirt on most of the bolts slowed things down. getting the case off was the easy part. 16 bolts that were very easy to take out after cracking them with the breaker bar. I then got 2 big flathead screwdrivers on either side of the case and pryed it open being careful not to damage the machined faces of the case.

looks ok to me, but i would prefer you to take someone elses more expert advice. I'm not a mechanic, but i would wait for a professional opinion.

why did you pull it apart in the first place? Under load is when it will truly show its stretch. I doubt many people have seen a working chain as theres no need to open the case up otherwise.
If you do a search for transfer case chain and watch either myself or a couple other guys videos you will hear what a stretched chain sounds like.

Wonder if anyone will ever make a gear set for this instead of the chain. Is a patrol transfer chain or gears. They are strong whatever they are.

Once the case is removed and the rear tails haft removed you can run the car on stands. Hold idle at 1500rpm and apply the brakes. Before the nav stalls you can see the chain jumping the teeth if the chain is stretched
