Tailgate damping kit

Hi Guys, I bought this kit but no instructions, anyone know how it goes on , looks like I need to drill a hole in the tailgate , no template ?,
Any help appreciated

I bought one but with two struts , it was impossible to get it to work as the strut was too long to close the tail gate according to the instructions .

What did the instructions say , looks like I have to drill into the tailgate as the black piece with the hole in it looks like it will be for the inside of the tailgate to capture a bolt in the kit ,
I Need to know where to drill

this damper definitely doesn’t fit
