STX 550 V6 Diesel

New to forum, thinking of purchasing STX 550 V6 Diesel for towing my 2.5 ton caravan. I own a D22 at the moment and had to fit a new ZD30 motor at 108,000 k's.
Just trying to find out if any problems with the motors, transmissions, etc in the D40 STX 550.

Welcome to the forum.

Most of the kinks in the 550 have been ironed out except the issue with the transmission in 4LO. It's not a mechanical fault, it's a logic fault and if you don't mind a bit of hack and slash, you can get around it - Raptorthumper did it in this thread.

Essentially, when you switch to manual mode, the gearbox obeys and will hold a gear unless you're in 4LO - if you're engine braking down a steep slope, it will kick up into the next gear and that's quite inconvenient.
