Hi I have a 2008 D40 STX and want to know if it would be ok to snatch of the front tow point that is fitted from original or which brand & type should I buy

i believe the consensus on that question is, You can recover from it i.e. winch or tow, However don't go jerking with a snatch strap... Unless you install another one and use an equalizer strap.
As for replacement points, Outbacksolutions is the place to have a gander...

That hook is a tie-down point. You might use it for flat towing, but never snatching as Mike said. I'd even be wary of winching from it.

I've not heard of Outbacksolutions, but check them out. I think it's Outback Ideas that has the recovery points several people here use, but ARB and other 4WD stores also sell ones worth looking at. Make sure you use high tensile bolts to hold them in.

I'd put one on each corner of the vehicle and use an equalisation strap to halve the load.

I have them on the front of mine and couldnt be happier.
I can show you if you like Mike
Am Nth side

deff worth a drive out there for a show and tell one day!
the only thing that strikes me as a problem with putting them on, is i only have threaded holes in the chassis on the passenger side, and the bash plate bolts ( on extended sticks for install) aren't high tensile. so bit of a pain in the arse.

How much were they?

while we're on the topic, are the points on the d22 factory bullbar ok to snatch from?

im guessing the equalizer strap goes on both points and the snatch then goes on it??

That's exactly it mate. I've never had a problem. Then again ive only needed to be snatches 2 times :)

I use mine for "skull dragging" or pulling a car out thats connected to my front so I can use the stronger reverse gear.
Just gotta remember to pull the shackles off before some tard flogs em lol

Bummer, I don't have tapped holes on the drivers side either. Anyone else got around this problem?????

i think i read on here that someone was able to tack a bit of mig welding wire onto a nut so it could be located in the right spot, then tack it onto the chassis.
It sounds like a pain in the a$#$ but it's the only way i have herd of that would actually work.
