Something like this maybe!

It's hard to get the lines right working with cardboard but this will get me into the ball park.. Once I have the metal it will be easier to follow and fit to the lines ...

That would be handy for other single cabbers like me!
Will do... How do you think you will go about yours? I'm thinking of leaving the rear two mounts as they are and lengthening the forward mount..

Something like this.. this is just the cover plate template, it will end up basically being a right angle ..

Well I'm still working at it, when I get the chance!
Limited shop time and i can only get at it on weekends when my mates quiet ..

It is coming along, if I can just stop changing my mind with the design ...

Picked up a solar panel for it the other day, cheap "I thought" for a "tier 1" solar panel manufacture!
Nice and black too ;) The add reads well and Jingko are up there when it comes to solar so I thought I'd AfterPay one... I looooove AfterPay ... $129 with discount code!

I'm planning on adhering it to some Aluca Bond paneling and having it removable from the rack mount.

It looks the goods and if it checks out I'll get another one to replace the faded one on it now, when I can do the tarp, eventually ..
I've even had the thought of not doing the roof rack and just sticking/Sicaflexing the solar panel to the roof.. Although, the roof rack will be handy.. water, fuel or wood etc "boxes of crc" etc... it should be able to take at least 300lb or more...

Cooooome innnnn spinnersssss.... calling all fishies, here fishy fish fish!

I was looking for these type of mounts but they raise the basket up to far. ..

The only way to get it to sit low is to make the brackets dangit...

This is just a rough fit up after the weld up..
It will sit 10mm or so higher off the center of the roof but thats about it..

Not sure if you'd be interested but I think I've still got two rails similar (im 95% certain i kept them) to those in your post #30 that i removed from a canopy.
send me a pm if you want a picture of them (y)

The more ideas the better, thank you. .

I think I'm sort of screwed in a way, if i want to get it to sit low i think im going to have to make something. . I'm keen to see what you have though..

I'm working "upto" pulling the head lining, so what ever is under that will dictate how i go about it ..

I liked the Frontier one eh they have seat belt webbing for the sports pack in the states... go baja yeahh ;)

It's useless in a lot of ways but it looks the goods...

The whole idea with this is a "two for one" in a way, a little extra space and a spot for a light weight panel i can take off when stopped. ..
Sure I'd love to do it alloy but money "is none" and thats why i went this way..
A cheap project that i can keep myself occupied with at this time..

The basket ended up costing $62 lol a good bottle. .. The welder and shop cost me a floor sweep of the shop .. a few cutting discs and a flapper $20.. some 15mmx15mm shs $20.. The cost will be in the paint and steel plate i need for the mounts .. sikaflex i have from another job, a dozen or so nuts and bolts. .

The semi flexible are great for this but will need some backing support for mounting and rigidity. ..

And being that the whole idea is to do this on a "fn broke" buget, look what i found in a mates shed...

His brother dumped a trailer of crap when he sold his house and took off for W.A the cheeky bugger, cheaper than the tip eh
In amongst all this "hand me down" load is the real estate agents sign...
The For Sale sign lol I remembered they're made from Alucabond now... And its black on one side! Little win....

A bugger to remove but worth it, great score huh..

A good "de gloss" with 80g paper, and the white side can be the side the solar panel is adhered too..
