Nissan Navara NP300 year 2017. I shifted to 4WD but I forgot lever was in R position... I was on ice, car was not moving. Heard some noise while 4WD was engaging but it was not very loud. After that I put lever to P and then shifted to 2WD. Tested forward and reverse, everything is working normally, also in 4WD mode. Is it possible I managed to do damage to transmission?

nah its fine. being in neutral just makes it easier as there is no load on the gears.

... and you were on the perfect surface to be engaging /disengaging 4WD without harm.
