My old man's V9X recently failed.
I made a lot of calls (around Australia) including a Nissan dealer. There was bugger all support out there for the 6 cylinder diesel unfortunately.
You might have better luck, but I couldn't find a workshop that would rebuild ours because there's no more engine parts available.

Well he needed a working ute immediately, so he bought another D40 (yd25) and we swapped a few upgrade parts from the 550.
The truck has been sitting in the yard for a few months while we think about the next step.

We haven't ruled out an LS1 or VK56 conversion... but paying local conversion workshop will run to about $30k!
Might tackle it ourselves if we ever get time.

First choice was always to swap or rebuild the V9X. He loves that engine.
But that motor appears to be an orphan (which we think is insanely stupid on Nissan Renault's behalf)

You could prolly swap in a YD25 (comparatively cheap & widely available) but I'll bet my beer there will be some gremlins and head aches getting the electronics & ancillaries to work. And I'm not sure where or how you'd adapt the YD motor & box to the transfer case & drive line etc. (although everything is doable with enough effort & $$$.

Just got this back from ACL bearings who I have always used for race engines. So bearings are ok.. Head gaskets seem available.. Pistons are the next to track down

I remember speaking with a guy in WA who was/is known for supplying rebuilt V9X's.
He had at least one new crate engine from Nissan.
And he was stockpiling used V9X's for parts.
But he wasn't interested in selling any of it yet.

Found pistons, seals, head gaskets valve steam seals..

so if you look you can find all parts to rebuild

Machined? Sure.
Replaced... I dunno.
I was told there was a machine shop in Vic that was manufacturing new cranks for a while, but they gave it away because they couldn't get a reliable supply of rods and they weren't happy with the end result. Our local diesel specialist rebuilt a couple of V9X's using said cranks, but offered very short warranty.... regardless.. they couldn't / wouldn't help us.
Have you had any luck with rods??

Hi all, I believe I have all the parts available but at this time I have no plans to rebuild.

Pistons, head gaskets crank seals and head stem seals have all been purchase. Big and small end bearings are available and will be ordered once crank and block machinING is done.

All parts are available you just need to look around. Not cheap but nor was the truck when new.

I am lucky that I have a company car and this is not required atm.
