MINOR FLOOD WARNING FOR THE MARY RIVER
Issued at 5:03 pm EST on Thursday 27 March 2014 by the Bureau of Meteorology, Brisbane.

Widespread rainfall totals of 40-100mm have been recorded since 9am Thursday across the upper Mary River catchment, with isolated heavier totals at Black Mountain 144mm, Baroon Dam 128mm, West Bellthorpe 117mm, and Kenilworth Homestead 111mm. Elsewhere across the lower Mary River valley rainfall totals for the same period have been up to 45mm.
A severe weather warning remains current for heavy rainfall across the warning area.
River and creek rises are occurring across the upper Mary River catchment, including Six Mile Creek. Based on the rainfall recorded so far, river rises overnight are likely to result in minor flooding at Gympie during Friday afternoon.
UPPER MARY RIVER TO GYMPIE: Minor flooding is expected during Thursday evening along Six Mile Creek. At this stage river levels along the upper Mary River are likely to result in levels reaching about 6.0 metres at Gympie (minor flood
level) during Friday afternoon.
TINANA CREEK: Creek rises have commenced at Tagigan Rd. Areas of minor flooding are possible as the rainfall continues across Tinana Creek.
MARY RIVER BETWEEN GYMPIE AND MARYBOROUGH: River level rises are expected downstream from Gympie during Friday. At this stage river levels will remain below the minor flood level.
Predicted River Heights/Flows:
Moy Pocket: River rises expected to remain below the minor flood level (7.0 metres).
Dagun Pocket: River rises expected to reach near the minor flood level (7.0 metres).
Gympie: River levels to reach up to 6.0 metres (minor flood level) during Friday afternoon. Further rises are possible as areas of heavy rainfall continue to be recorded.
Miva: River levels to remain below the minor flood level.
Tiaro: River levels to remain below the minor flood level.
Maryborough: River levels to remain below the minor flood level.
