Well I now know with mine at least it is only in 4th, always just stayed in 3rd lo or switched back to hi but yesterday used 5th lo and no issues at all. Shift back to 4th lo and the atrocious surging is straight back at constant throttle.
Not a fix but at least a work around that will save me switching between hi & lo constantly, to wet and muddy for me to need 6th yesterday but once things dry out I will see how it goes.
Given the fact 3rd low gearing is almost identical to 1st hi i was thinking it was a deliberate ploy by nissan to get you back into hi.
