oil smell in cabin when window open D22

I have a 2005 D22 STR and after a service about 12 months ago after if i have been driving for 15 mins or so if i have the window down i get a really stronge smell of oil in the cabin but if i have the window up and AC on i get nothing. i have had a few people look at it with no luck! if anyone has had this problem and knows the answer plz let me know!

I would check your gear selector boots and make sure they are not split. Can cause fumes to be drawn up when the window is open as the cabin is no longer pressurised. Obviously check for any oil leaks too.

i checked my gear selecter boot and its split with oil coming threw it! so hopefully thats all it is!

hey mate i have the same problem with my d22 navara, smell comes all though after i warm the car up, booots was split but sealed it. comes and goes, its like a oil or gear box smell ive had a new cluch put in, any advice would be great cheers mate
