Hey all,
My name is Amy, I'm from the Central Coast.
I've just bought my first 4x4, a 2012 Nissan Navara D22 S5 St-r special edition
It's a bit of a change from my 2007 Subaru Impreza Luxury but will be far more appropriate for all the camping trips we do :)
Looking forward to tricking my truck and scoping out the forum :)
Cheers!

Welcome Amy, you will find plenty of information here for modifications for your ute, hope you enjoy the D22, anything you need that's not already under the search option feel free to ask away.

Navmania we have a few ladies that have joined that im aware of.
The last member i can think of came on while looking for a D40 v6 petrol and posted quite allot while she looked and then bought her D40, but then her and hubby had issues with it and decided that once it was fixed they would sell it and i havent seen her since.

maybe it wasnt the selling of the ute maybe it was just us stinking up the joint??

They all have problems in some form, perhaps you have read more negatives about the d40. I think it's the luck of the draw, some have endless trouble whereas others with the exact same model have none. Maintenance is the key I still believe in oil changes every 5k this is the best thing you can do to a little oiler IMO.

From what I have read the d40s seem to have more problems, is that true?

In general yes it does seem that way, although it was probably more noticeable a few years back and especially comparing the early D40 to the old ZD30 powered Jap built D22, they were just about bullet proof

Congrats on purchase. As mentioned maintenance is the key to a lifetime of fun and a reliable rig. I have an 09 model purchased used in 2010. Serviced it every 5k using quality oils and still haven't had any major issues with it. Plenty of info on this forum to help you along your way. Lots of cluey people on here aswell there is no harm in asking questions.

Rusty

Thanks Rusty and Dave. I'm pretty fussy with servicing my cars. This is my first diesel though, so you'd suggest fluid changes every 5k? The servicing in the log book is every 10k isn't it? I service my Subaru every 8 to 10 k but in saying that its petrol.

i do my d40 engine oil every 10, the rest every 40, fuel filter gets every 40

and i gotta say i havent had any problems with my d40, other than wear and tear, its 7 years old with 210k on it so i think when i gotta change a drive shaft or cv boot here and there its not all that bad, never had anything blow up yet touch wood
