So, was told by diesel mechanic injector problem....had them tested, two failed, had two new ones put in and still exact same problem. Wtf. Any help would be great!!have put vid on YouTube. This happened randomly while driving home from work and had it towed home soon as it started this noise. Car was only serviced a few weeks prior to this happening!!

And if 2 failed, and were replaced - are 2 still failing? Could be a computer problem thats throwing the error.

Sorry I don't know how to add the link, it's under .. Navara D40 engine problem help. 0.23s

That's a rattly engine.

Without knowing the km on it, you might suspect a timing chain. How is it power-wise? How many km? What year model? Is it Spanish (VIN starts with 'VSK') or is it a Thai build (VIN starts with 'MNT')?

Have you used any engine treatments in it? How's the oil (it should be black-ish, that's usual, but how OLD is it)? Have you used any fuel treatments?

When starting it, is it easy to start?

Mate it's 07 Spanish with 135xxx as for power not sure haven't driven it since the noise started. The oils is only 1500k's old. And no treatments through it for the past 20xxx ks

Does sound like a timing chain, maybe a tensioner has given up??

That's what I'm thinking, given the year model and age it's now a prime suspect.

If you use an automotive stethoscope on the front of the engine block while the engine is idling you should hear the chain rattling away inside.

If it's a chain/tensioner, http://www.yd25.com.au sells upgrade kits that should suit. Visit the site, talk to Paul and see what he can do for you - the upgrade is far superior to the original.

Pretty sure its a full on job mate. Would depend how mechanically minded you are, and what tools and such you have at your disposal.
