hi guys my 2007 D40 auto the DPF has been fine untill now about 2 weeks ago the DPF light came on drove it has the handbook suggests and sure enough the light went out, after that and just prior it lacked power and heavy fuel consumption, .. and prior to that the exhaust pipe was so clean for a Diesel but not now heavily sooted up.. on our way back from Mackay yesterday it was so guttless towing the van for the first 350 klms but it seems to be getting better, i have been thinking of the chipit delete pipe & egr blank plate will this make a difference ?
cheers Kev

The delete pipe will remove the need for regeneration and the chip will boost the ponies. The only thing to be careful about is that you don't want to catch the ECU in a mid-regen cycle when the delete pipe goes in. If the light's gone out, it's probably over with it now - there'd still be some value in sitting @ 80km/h in 4th gear for a little while just to keep the rpm up and let the DPF get nice and hot which should make sure the thing has completely burnt everything in it.

Also, you might want to clean your MAFS just to be sure it's not some muck on that causing any problem. Electrical contact cleaner, a 7mm socket and 5 minutes of time. Gently remove the MAFS from the rear of the airpipe just outside the air box and spray inside it with the electrical contact cleaner (Jaycar sells the stuff for about $9 a can) then reinstall. You don't need to detach the wiring, the contact cleaner won't hurt anything and the worst you could have done is blown $9 on the cleaner. Don't drop the MAFS - it's a $400 component!

thanks Tony it prob is burnt all of the soot out as it was working hard in fourth for a while, at the moment ive been emailing Robert at Chipit regarding the Delete pipe and EGr blanking plate, he seems to think its blocking up ... honestly no restriction of a egr and DPF its has to be better and use normal diesel oil ! with maybe a tad better performance and fuel economy ... have you installed a delete pipe Tony ? if so any dramas in doing it ?
Kev

I'm still using a DPF and haven't had any drama with it (101,000km now). I'm not that eager to replace it just yet. If it fails and isn't a warranty thing then a delete pipe is absolutely on the cards, because $4K for a new DPF sucks balls.

Agree entirely Tony. I now have 101000km and mine is working fine. Still a bit bloody thirsty though at around the 13.5 ltrs/100km mark combined.:confused3:
