Canberra have pity !!!!!
Figured I would get things sorted for the upcoming ( at freakin long last )respray and I already planned on replacing my cracked front screen so I rang my insurance to get things rolling.
All goes well right up to the part where they tell me that due to whatever I actually dont have windscreen coverage
At $578 for a new screen from Obriens yes am somewhat pissed .

Anyway now for the twist

I got a call from the insurance people yesterday and spent the next umpteen calls trying to return the call.
Got hold of them today and they are going to cover my screen regardless of the fact they dont have to
Shocked
you better beleive it
GIO you rock

Well they told me that due to the fact they couldnt find anything to say I had stopped payment of windscreen cover and that I have 3 policies with them for a period of years that they could understand how it may have happened.

Anyone know anything about insuring tools? (for work, not stupid people)

I just shilled out 24Grand on a thermal imaging camera

Good to hear that some people's insurance is working but bugger me that's an expensive windscreen we've never paid more than $300 even for the truck windscreens.

As for tools being insured different policies will classify them as different things but there is no reason why you can't insure things even if the insurer asks for proof of purchase. I'm insured for any of the pc bits etc I carry around and my tools and providing I can produce receipts for anything I claim they wont argue.

I was told by the painter that Obriens are the most expensive for any screen and he reckons his guy would be able to do one for around the $300 mark also. Apparently there is a rubber real that gets torn on removal and has to be replaced so god knows how much Neeeesan would want to charge for that.Neeesan US wants $41 for it so here would go I dare say about $200 lol

Well Obriens do have to pay for that guy on their ad with the bad lisp that cracks windows on speed humps, lisps are more expensive I'm sure of it. My glass bloke puts the windows in for Nissan so no doubt Nissan charge triple to make up for his fee like they do with the tinting. No idea what he charges for a Nav windscreen but my bro got a VN Dunnydoor quoted 4 weeks ago and it was $120 fitted.

My boss uses a thermal image camera for pre purchase house inspections. 15k it cost him. And they do all sorts of checks on you before you get to take it home to make sure your not a terrorist.

Way back a decade ago, you could always get an Obrien manufactured windscreen cheaper from the small guys. Don't know if that is still the case.
The only way to get it cheaper was to ring during one of their "make every sale" promotion and you could get it cheaper still.
