HELP... no dash lights, trip or clock memory..

hey guys I was hoping for some help with my 2009 dx. I have no dash lights (warning lights still work) and my trip computer will not hold memory or the time. its not a fuse as far as I can see and the tail lights still work just after a few things to look for before its off to the auto elec..

My dash lights went out cause my tail light needed replacing.

Could be the tail lights - oddly enough - but it could also be the earth for the dash. Happens a lot when people do stuff with the stereo, which shares the earth with the instrument cluster.

That's easy enough to test. Run a temporary cable from the chassis of the stereo to a good earth (there's a bolt behind the dash on the side between the steering wheel and the side wall of the car, which screws vertically up into body metal - it's the one I use). If that test works, make it permanent = problem solved.
