Got home from a night shift this morning and decided to look in the engine bay. I found a bunch of oil residue that wasn't there about a week ago. It is on the metal egr pipe and had dripped near the belt underneath. Any idea what it may be coming from before I work on it this weekend?
Here is a few pictures.
I also live along a dirt road so that's the solid bits you see.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Cheers Aden.

Hmm....
I don't know for sure, but my first feeling is that the EGR pipe has cracked and the oily residue you can see has crept out along the pipe.
The exhaust gas pressure would push it out. But...in theory it should be pretty dry gas, not oily.
Alternatively, the heat exchanger section has cracked (externally) and what you can see there is actually soot/carbon mixed with coolant?
(Does it smell "sweet"?)

Failing those ideas, start with basics...
- Oil fill cap on tight?
- Dipstick seated properly?
- Rocker cover gasket leaking?
- Timing chain cover leaking? (mine does)
- Any weird noises? Any loss of performance?

Just looking at the photos again....
The third photo shows the drivers side of the e/b and the large hose on RHS is the air inlet from the intercooler (I think).
If this has a crack/hole in it, and you're not running an oil catch can, it could be oily blow-by crap spraying/dripping out & down?
(even though the intercooler traps most of it)

Cheers.
Has not been very good on hill climbs at low speed since I got it. Plenty of times I have had to put it in 4h on tarred roads just to take off. If on dirt or grass needs 4L, otherwise revs just die and it will stop. I'm I am going a decent speed it doesn't care, does seem slow on accelerating though.
Just got the cover off and found oil around the black pipe took it off the clamp was basically finger tight with screwdriver. Plenty of oil residue inside and is the valve in there supposed to be open while the vehicle is off?
Also turns out my vehicle has an egr block, asked if it did when I bought it but the guy said no. They put plenty of sealer around it, just ordered one last night.

It looks to me like the rubber hose - which is the charge air hose from the intercooler to the intake manifold - has leaked. It means you lose boost pressure while spraying oil all over the place.

This will cause the oil you see - and the performance loss you feel.
