Hey all, I got myself a boost gauge and ordered my egt gauge. Going to stick them in myself and do both at the same time in a pillar pod.

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of grommets in the firewall that are easily accessible and in suitable locations to pass the boost gauge line and egt gauge wiring through?

Where is practical for both an easy and neat route to get from the boost tee in the boost sensor line and the egt probe which is in the dump pipe to the pillar?

Im guessing I want to avoid sharp bends and try and take a short route? but just not sure where!

Cheers in advance

I just ran my boost line through the one above the accelerator pedal and along the firewall haven't put my egt in yet still go to get one but I say I'll run it through the same one

Thanks mate, thats what I was thinking, but thought I'd see if anyone had come up with anything I hadn't seen.

Looks like I'll just do that

I went through the bonnet release cable grommet for mine, but that's cause I didn't have anywhere else to put them. I believe the earlier models had a grommet near the brake booster that can be used for that... With the wiring for the egt probe, they are a calibrated length, so I coiled the excess under the bonnet on one of the brake lines near the dump pipe where there was room, rather than trying to coil it up under the dash.

Cheers, I'll check it out and see which one I thinks gonna be best.

I was more concerned about the boost line for route length, but was also wondering where I could sneak the excess on the EGT wiring as I got enough under the dash and already need to try neaten it up without wanting to add a coil of excess wiring!

That bastards chockas! image-1781164806.jpg
That's the one the bonnet release cable goes through above the accelerator pedal

The loom for the EGT gauge is 10.5ft and there is about the same in boost line... Would it matter if the boost line came in on the passenger side where there is a large grommet for factory wiring loom and back to the drivers side A pillar? Will the length affect the accuracy of the gauge?

Look to the right side of brake booster, directly above the 2 pipes that go thru firewall is a bung with a centre that can be removed easily, leaving you with a protected hole. Piece of piss.

Full lol

The old bloke that owned it before me put spotties, Projecta electronic dual battery, better/louder horn in and extra cig sockets so it seems my two options are use this grommet

Or drill hole and use grommet that comes with gauge, which I don't really want to ho down that path

Yeah, i'v run everything through that grommet. Its pretty big, surely if you cant grease and poke another hole in it, you can run your stuff through the conduit that old mate used for the driving lights?

Managed to squeeze the boost line through that grommet next to brake booster... The pyrometer plug/cable was a bastard to even get through the big grommet in my photo above, stupid rectangle shaped plug thing... But all done or mostly. Lines and looms and wires ran, gauges fit, boost line connected and boost gauge working, both gauges illumination works... But the exhaust mob welded in the wrong size fitting before they shipped it (Xforce 3" purchased from eBay seller exhaust joint in Orange, NSW) so probe cable tied back out the way until I get it sorted.

Thanks for everyone's input

I should have said too, with the egg probe, I removed the 2 pins from that big rectangle plug and just fed the straight wires through, then put the pins back in the sockets they came out of.... Bit late now, hahahah but at least you got it sorted

I thought of that but didn't want to mess with the thing in the end in case I rooted the pins or something
