Seems on of the temp sensors on my 2011 Thai build D40 is buggered. Check engine light came on then dpf light shortly after and is drinking huge amount of diesel. Scan showed fault P0438 so thinking one of the temp sensors is the problem but dont know whi ch one. Would it be the fat one or the skinny one?

Would rather not change both as they aint cheap.

Hopefully unrelated the egr was blanked off a while ago when I replaced the exhaust manifold as the old one cracked and could not source a genuine one.

i don't have the book on that model so i can't check that code.

i suspect the skinny one will be temp sensor. you should be able to unplug the lead and test it with a multimeter.
the bigger one is most likely a oxygen sensor.

Thanks for the reply.
Had a closed look at the situation and worked out that it was the sensor at the front of the DPF and not the rear one and yes think it is the skinny one.
Pulled plug off and sensor resistance looked ok, checked input voltage and that was only 0.01v. Found cracked wire near plug and now all good as far at that goes. Next step is a nice hot run to see if the DPF clears now the front sensor is fixed.
