looks like a pit to me, I've had a few over the years and used to show them.

Do you mean an American Staffy - didn't think Pitty's could be registered with the ANKC so therefore can't be shown.

But I get what you mean................been told by members of the Vic Am Staff Club, who do lure coursing wth the RR club, to NEVER refer to their dogs as APBT's 'cause they get VERY upset and say they are different breeds - and I don't want to start the debate on this forum.

JustAl - love the pics of you and Kody.

na pit bull, I was a commitee member of the Queensland Pit bull Terrier Assocation of Qld Inc. We had own own events. Am Staff owners are kidding themselves, same dog just more inbred lol

Ahh.......cheers. Understood.

LOVE THE DOGS - whether they are the fluffies, the runners or the workers.

Here are my mutts -
Buzz the ridgeback - 10 years old - By far my favourite - hence my mood being 'Buzzed'. He is a Grand Champion, Tracking Champion and Track & Search Excellent, and an Endurance test pass. Has sired 15 champions in 4 countries. But most of all he is a champion dog to have around the house and in the bush. He is bomb proof around other dogs - and that's what we aim for with all our dogs.

Jarla the ridgeback and mother of two litters. - 5 years old, daughter of Buzz - Australian Champion and Tracking Champion. A great bitch who loves hanging out with the pack, very complacent and easy to live with.

Hawk - our 2 year old ridgeback - Grandson of Buzz. Has a good show career infront of him, and has passed his first tracking test. He is maturing very well - and boy does he love to run!

Jet - 6 yr old German Wirehaired Pointer - Australian Champion, Tracking Champion and Endurance test pass - one crazy obsessed dog! Loves birds and chasing rabbits & foxes. Great dog to take bush on his own, or with the terrier and ridgies.

Soda - 3 yr old Border Terrier - Australian Champion and Novice Earth dog - tough little bitch who will take on anything! Loves to escape and disappear into the bush behind our place.

And finally - we have little Tara - 8 week old ridgie - daughter of Jarla.

Despite all the titles and crap - these dogs are our pets and mates first up. I love tracking with them or heading to the pine forrest for some fun!
We do take them to obedience classes but that is mainly to socialise them and teach them some manners. We insist our dogs are well adjusted and safe with other dogs.

:cheers!:

:bump:

Thought I'd give this thread a nudge and an update.

Well - in Feb 2011 the shit hit the fan for me and my pack of dogs - we lost Jet. Go to page 2 of this thread for the story - http://www.navara.asia/showthread.php?t=6780

We are getting used to not having him around but his spirit is very strong. The tracking season started a couple of weeks ago and I was supposed to be doing more trials with him this year.

Hawk is ready to take on tracking and our first trial is on Sunday.

Anyway.....let's see some more dogs!

Good luck with it Darren,i'm sure with your training Hawk will go well.

Our dog Dakota.

She is a bullmastif x ridgeback

Dunno how old she was in that picture. She has since moved to Queensland with my parents . Unfortunately we couldn't keep her as we moved into a no pets house. She now weighs 55+ kg's. Will try and get a recent picture.

Next dog when i move back to Perth in October will be a pure bred rottie, and I cant wait to own another dog.

Brett

Actually, here is a more recent picture with my parents.

Dakota (on the right) with Tika (on the left), mum and dad's Japanese Akita, Think tika is around 9yrs old now and on her last days. She has had a good life.

Hahaha.......thanks Ian. I remember that at Kirth Kiln. The boys got a bit of a laugh on the last trip when I pulled out the camp chair for him to settle on! It seems to be his camp fire spot now.

Some great looking dogs there bbryant and alphabet.

I like the Akitas - and Tika looks like a good one, and ya gotta love those crazy siberians!

Yeh akita's, ridgebacks and rotties are some of the better breeds i prefer.
Tika is a gorgeous dog, really protective say when walking, if she doesnt like someone or something she goes wacko, yet she is so gentle at home and around kids.

Ah Ridgie, that sucks mate. For some reason I'm only catching up on that thread now. Very sorry for your loss, I too know that pain. I've had to put down two of my dogs in my life. As they become part of the family, it never gets any easier.

Hawk is ready to take on tracking and our first trial is on Sunday.
Where are these trials? I'd be keen to get down and check them out. Good luck to hawk!

She's beautiful, bbryant! It must of been hard giving her to your fokes? Although she's still in the family I spose.

They are awesome looking dogs. I've always had a soft spot for the Huskies!

The trials this weekend are at Folscott farm - near Hastings - and this place is not great for observers.
Judging starts at 7.30am.
It's not the greatest spectator sport as they are held in paddocks/bush and the only way to actually see what is going on is by following - which isn't always practical or allowed, or finding the high ground and watching through binoculars.
The other places they are held are near Ballarat, Morwell, Bendigo, Broadford and Inverleigh. There are Track & Search trials held near Cranbourne.

Yeah I figured as such.

I'm just around the corner from Cranny! :)

Next time your going for a play or a practice run, let me know. I'm very interested in the styles/practices of training the dogs.

Cheers mate.

The tracking club of victoria run workshops for training.

But I'll let you know when i am doing something down that way.

We had a doggie visitor the other day. a youngish well fed lab was wondering the streets and came up from a pat. so I rummaged in the back shed for an old bowl and now it sits in front on the front porch as a pooch water point.

from the water level, no repeat visits, but the porch huntsman spider did check it out.

My next door neighbour, who happens to be one of the laziest bastards ever born, just got a lab pup. She's a beautiful little dog, about five months old. Problem is it took him 3 months to build the kennel/run so she stayed at his old man's for that whole time. Now she's at his place and barks every time I go outside. She doesn't get walked. gets no training, no socialisation, nothing. Just wonder why he even bothered to get a dog.

Hey guys,

I was just browsing the forums and i found this thread so i thought "why not?"

Im just starting out in life haha

I bought my first ute a couple weeks ago...I'm starting my apprenticeship as a builder in a few days... and to complete the "set" last week i picked up my new pup who will hopefully turn out to be one of my best mates

His name is Jack and he is an 11 weeks old Blue Heeler x Kelpie.
