Hi Im new to the forum. My first post so I hope its not totally in the wrong part of the forum.

Ive just got a 2007 4WD D40 navara which I managed to get cheap due to a DPF failiure.

Ive replaced the DPF and all sensors with new parts. Pig of a job to remove the old rusty one.

My question:

Do I need to reset the ECU? At the moment its in limp mode and the DPF light is still lit (yellow picture) and Im hoping after an ECU restart the light will go out and itll run smoothly without any problems. I havent tried that yet I wanted to check the procedure first.

Thanks for your help!

Hello, sadly the standard ecu reset we can do at home won't clear this code. You will need a tow to a Nissan dealer to remove the code error.

Welcome to the forum!

HJ may well be right - if it's gone into "disaster mode" then the only way out is a "forced regen".

One thing you CAN try is getting the car warm and held at 1500rpm+ under a light load for about 30 minutes. That essentially means finding a nice (40km-long) stretch of highway and playing granddad for the duration. Don't accelerate hard, don't back it off, just keep it there. The car MAY attempt to do a regen and discover that it's able to do so.

The other possibility is that the DPF pressure sensors are faulty as well. A Nissan dealer will be able to conduct the forced regen if that makes things easier, and determine if the sensors are working properly.

Take it to an aftermarket company that deals in DPF removal.. They should be able to connect and clear the DPF code..

Driving it will no clear it.. You're stuck in LIMP MODE and from all my undertakings driving it or keeping it revving won't do jack - and you'll be doing less than 30km/h FLAT OUT...

If you're friendly with a NISS DEALER, you can ask them to clear the code and program that it is a NEW DPF (one of the other users did this).. This will get you going - HOWEVER - you may still have the DPF try and do micro-burns and when this happens you'll cover the street in white smoke.

My best advice to you - take it aftermarket and get it TUNED and have the DPF code removed.. Better faster and NEVER another need to worry about the bloody DPF!

I've been there.. done that..

Thanks for the replies.

Im going to get in touch with a Nissan Dealer this morning and see if they can clear the code.

The story behind the truck is that it was sat at a repair garage for over half a year and they couldnt work out what the problem was.. They claim to have had the truck at a Nissan dealer to clear the codes and attempted to regen the old DPF without any luck.

It does run up to 80/90 km but that takes time and doesent rev over 2500 under load.

So with a new DPF and 3 sensors at least theres a chance ill get it back on the road. EGR is also new.

Ill let you know how it goes after ive been to NIssan.

My thoight is to get the DPF removed. JUst up here in snowy Sweden there isnt a place that does the procedure.

Im gonna have to do the surgery myself...scalpel nurse..

I just had a new Taipan exhaust fitted about a month ago and the day after it was done I got the ECU error light come on.

Had to take it to the local Nissan dealer where they charged me $90 to run a diagnosis - it turned out to be a faulty sensor so I had to get that replaced.

Well, I get the truck back friday. The garage phoned today to say they had good news and bad news.

The good news?

They succesfully flashed the ECU and have optimised it +30 bhp not that im expecting a huge difference to the seat of pants experience but it will be a big difference from limp mode.

The bad news?

During the test run at @140 km the hood popped up shattering the windscreen and obviously damaging the hood..

I kinda lost my temper a bit, as you do in these situations. :chainsaw:

After about 3 calls back and forth today the garage have said that they will be getting a new screen fitted and the hood/ any damage repaired and sprayed the correct colour by friday.*

So I just need a beer now and a heart bypass, cant let them off the hook completetly until im satisfied theyve done right. What a roller coaster ride, days like these make getting out of bed seem just
a little excessive.

Well, friday the 13th has been and gone!

The truck is now running and goes really well. Ive nothing to compare to as when I bought it, it did 50 kmh. But yesterday it pulled like ---- on a shovel. Cleared 150 after a little stamp on the pedal! The garage had done a forced regen and remapped the ECU. They also replaced the hood and windshield that they broke on the test run. Im really stoked cant wait to get it in the forest and test the 4WD!!

Taking it in for its MOT in a half an hour (road worthy test -not sure what you guys call that) So I hope it passes first time. I have to get it tracked, new front discs and pads and it could do with some chunky tires and a good thrashing.

Its gonna be great to take it ice trekking on the lakes in winter.

Thanks for all the advice guys!
